I started this tumblog based on a very funny comment from my girlfriend, after she was accosted by a fanny pack and orthopedic shoe sporting aged hippie on how nice her legs looked. Though shocked at the random compliment, she had a great idea. Katie’s suggestion was simple - why not a people of Whole Foods blog?

This past week, many of us were casually made aware of a new website which aims to poke fun at Wal-Mart shoppers. I actually found that idea to be classist and somewhat morally repugnant. While I don’t fashion myself as a Wal-Mart shopper, the fact is that most Americans are Wal-Mart shoppers.
If you want to make fun of the Wal-Mart shopper, realize you’re making fun of people, though they aren’t like you, are just as patriotic and just as American as everybody else. Sure, you don’t wear a fanny pack, mesh clothing, or Zubaz, but you probably have more choices in your wardrobes.
In the spirit of making fun of Americans, let’s make fun of Whole Foods shoppers as well. As I’m sure you’ll agree, these organic eating, compost making, recycling enthusiasts are just as idiosyncratic as the Wal-Mart shopper. Heck, maybe even more so.
